Decoration image fibre optic

About

We are scientists in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at ETH Zurich, working with fibre-optic sensing across a range of geophysical applications. In the FOSLab, we develop and use fibre-based methods for environmental geophysics, earthquake physics, wave physics, shallow-subsurface monitoring, non-destructive testing, and other interesting applications.

We coordinate and collaborate with research groups that include fibre-optic sensing in their experiments, supporting the design, installation, and interpretation of these systems. Our goal is to advance the use of FOS technology across the geosciences through cooperation and shared expertise.

Team

Are you interested in collaborating with us, or learning more about our work? We’re always happy to discuss new research ideas, field projects, or opportunities for MSc theses related to fibre-optic sensing and subsurface monitoring. Reach out if you’d like to explore a project together or contribute to ongoing experiments. We look forward to hearing from you!
